Thu, 18 May 2006
Tettnang, 18 May 2006 – ComputerBild, showed in a complex test how good free of charge virus scanners really are. The detection rate, the search speed and the ease of installation are the qualities that put Avira on the first place.
The German IT magazine ComputerBild tested in the current issue (11/2006) seven antivirus solutions from different antivirus producers. Some of the test criteria were the detection and removal of viruses, Trojans, backdoors as well as the search speed and the usability of the programs.
According to the testers, Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic "has by far the best virus detection and the best removal performance". Thus, the Avira AntiVir solution was the only program that detected all the active malware found on the testing computer. Avira AntiVir, which is free of charge for private, non-commercial use, won the race against Trojans, viruses, bots and backdoors and received easily a clear first place.
Furthermore, the testers consider praiseworthy "the ease of use and the test speed when searching for viruses" as well as the existence of an integrated on-access scanner.
"The results of the ComputerBild test don’t only confirm the leading position of Avira concerning the detection and removal of digital threats. Avira AntiVir version 7 is also on top when we are talking about a user friendly solution" said Gernot Hacker, COO at Avira GmbH.
