Allianz Suisse arms itself against malware
Wed, 01 August 2007
As the main virus scanner, Avira AntiVir protects around a million emails of the Swiss insurer every month.
Tettnang, 01 August 2007 – Insurance is a matter of trust. In this way, Allianz Suisse is also reliably protecting its IT infrastructure. For the protection of around one million incoming and outgoing emails per month, the Swiss subsidiary of the Allianz Group has now implemented a multi-level virus protection system against all types of digital attackers. The new protection concept is based on Avira AntiVir as the first virus scanner and works at different levels of the network with various virus protection solutions. With the new anti-virus concept, the Swiss insurance and financial services provider is replacing anti-virus gateways on Unix.
“For an insurance group, it is simply intolerable if infected emails are sent to policy holders. As the lengthy virus updates of our existing Unix solution were no longer supportable, we promptly looked for easy to integrate virus protection with the best detection rates”, says Robert Spaltenstein, an IT expert at the Allianz Suisse, recalling the initial reason for reorganizing security measures. “After comprehensive trial runs, the results of Avira AntiVir convinced us. Our advantages: since the quick and trouble-free implementation of the security solution, updates have been running fully automatically, the administration required is restricted to looking through the logs and false positives have not occurred so far. In figures, Avira AntiVir has so far intercepted an unbeatable 99.6 per cent of all incoming infected mails.”
The heart of the virus protection precautions of Allianz Suisse is the iQ.Suite of Group Technology AG. Now integrated in the existing Domino servers, the Email Lifecycle Management solution controls all security functions on the mail gateways. Avira AntiVir is the first virus scanner to be integrated in the iQ.Suite with back-up from a second virus scanner. For highest possible protection, a third virus scanner is in use on employees’ workstations.
“The day-to-day business of a financial corporation such as Allianz Suisse depends entirely on trouble-free processing of email communication. Not an easy task with an email volume of 4,000 employees”, says Tjark Auerbach, CEO and founder of Avira GmbH, summing up the new cooperation with Allianz Suisse. “Protective mechanisms that work at many levels ensure that all incoming and outgoing emails are reliably scanned for viruses and operations are uninterrupted at all times – irrespective of the scale.”
