Wed, 16 September 2009
For the next ten days IT security specialist Avira is giving anyone who buys its products an additional ten months’ free virus protection and is also launching new localized versions for over 100 million users
Tettnang, 16 September 2009 – On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Free Antivirus protection package, Avira has decided to present its customers with a thank you gift: The IT security specialist is offering anyone buying the Avira AntiVir Premium and Avira Security Suite security solutions for private users and the Avira Small Business Suite for businesses ten extra months’ virus protection free-of-charge. In other words, users pay for 12 months’ cover but get 22. The anniversary offer runs for ten days from September 16 to 26 inclusive and is only available through the Avira online shop.
Ten years of free virus protection
The Avira success story began more than twenty years ago, when the company focused on protecting businesses and public bodies. In an effort also to stem the rising tide of malware outside corporate networks, Avira launched a free basic variant for private users on 16 September 1999: Avira AntiVir Personal – Free Antivirus. For ten years now, this popular, multi-award-winning freeware has been protecting more than 100 million users from viruses, Trojans and other digital threats. In an effort to meet international demand, Free Antivirus is now available to download in Italian and French, as well as German and English, at www.free-av.com. By the end of the year there will also be free versions available in Spanish, Russian and Japanese.
